How to plan a resource's capacity in Jira?

What is the capacity of an individual, team, product? Why plan in the first place? What to do when regular Jira is sufficient? When will you want to get a resource planning add-on? Do you need to consider Jira's capabilities?

Two reasons why capacity planning is important;

As a project manager:

You should neither overload nor underload a resource (a professional individual, a team, or a product)
By knowing the capacity of your teams, project management software can estimate the completion date of a project

How likely is it that a project will actually finish on that theoretical date? Story points and Sprint planning/SAFe’s Predictability Measure can be done.

What can and cannot be done in standard Jira in terms of capacity planning?

You can do the following in Jira without any additional resource planning plugins:

You can assume 5 working days / 8 hours in a week for each employee or different values
You can enable time tracking
3-way comparison for a request: Time worked - Time remaining - Estimated time

On the other hand, here are some things that you will have difficulty doing in standard Jira. So you need a plugin:

Workload plan - obtaining an individual weekly "calendar" for each employee;

The more specialized your staff, the more likely you are to need workload/vacation plan functionality in your Jira setup, and therefore:

If you employ several part-time professionals, you may have a software architect on staff who is a very important part-time member, for example
It is not possible to determine the capacities of your teams with teams that are unaware of Jira.
Some teams cannot easily transfer tasks between team members. Example: A team consists of a Java Developer, a Tester, and a Project Manager. The third one may be the only generalist on the team but not proficient in the programming language

You may also need to separate the scheduling, capacities, and talents of these special teams.
